A couple of weeks back, Microsoft
announced that it is bringing Cortana, its voice assistant to both the phone
and desktop. The company revealed that it will be made available even for
Android and iOS devices. While earlier it didn’t reveal any specific release
date for the app, but now the company has announced that the first beta of
Cortana for Android will be available in July. Ya! the same month when
Microsoft is planning to release the final version of Windows 10 to public.
As announced earlier, the Cortana
app for Android will work as a companion to Cortana on Windows 10. While we
don’t have exact details for how it will work, but seems like Cortana on
Android will be pack less feature in comparison to the Windows users.
The company explains:
ON YOUR ANDROID PHONE YOU CAN ASK CORTANA TO REMIND YOU TO WALK THE DOG AT 8PM IN THE EVENING, AND THEN WHEN YOU’RE WATCHING A MOVIE YOUR XBOX WILL INTERRUPT PLAYBACK TO LET YOU KNOW IT’S TIME TO TAKE THE DOG OUT.
Windows Phone users are currently
in love with Cortana. So, we are expecting to see the same voice engine in
Windows 10 and Android. Let’s see how Cortana works on Android.
