Microsoft launches Twist, a new photo-messaging app for iOS

Microsoft Garage team released a new project for iOS devices today. Dubbed as Twist, it is a new photo-messaging app which has been designed in Microsoft’s experimental lab.

As the name suggests, Twist is a lot different from any other messaging app in the App Store. No, it is not Snapchat or Instagram, but instead, it is a new way to send photos. You can start a conversation by just sending a photo to your friend, with a message attached over the top. The conversation screen is divided in 2 parts. The first part contains the photo which you sent to your friend and the second half will contain the photo which your friend sent to you, as a response to your message.

As explained by Twist Program Manger Jennifer Shen, the team used a special mechanics to design the conversation. “The mechanics we came up with focus on this idea of juxtaposed images. Having this ability to have a back-and-forth really unlocks a rich communication mechanism where you can share context, compare and contrast, and build a story together.”

Well, Twist is currently only available for the iOS users in the U.S. and Canada. So, Android users might want to wait.
