Fire OS is Amazon’s highly customized version of Android Operating
System, which it uses on its tablets and smartphones. While the current Fire OS
4 is based on Android 4.4 Kitkat Operating System, Amazon is now working on the
newer version. The upcoming Amazon Fire OS 5 is based on Android Lollipop.
While we don’t know much about Fire OS 5, but as Android Lollipop
brought some major changes to overall User Interface, this new version of Fire
OS might also bring some new UI improvements. Amazon has also released a
developer preview of Fire OS 5. So, if you are interested and want to check
your Apps compatibility on the upcoming version of Fire OS, then you can
download and install the developer preview.
For non-Amazon device owners, Amazon is also launching a new App
Testing Service. This service will allow developers to test app compatibility
with the Fire OS 5 without the need of any Amazon Device.
